Investing in science and innovation is one of six key areas of development needed to prepare for future pandemics, according to a new report conducted by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

Science|Business organised a roundtable discussion with international experts -representing industry, academia, public health bodies, think tanks, government officials and research organisations- to discuss how to prepare for future pandemics.

The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) supports RSV education by engaging key audiences, sharing firsthand experiences of RSV among all age groups, and providing resources to help raise awareness of the burden of disease.

The early lessons from the pandemic underlined that challenges to health systems and economies, including supply chain problems and vaccine hesitancy, could no longer be overcome by European Union Member States acting alone.

ECDC recommends that healthcare facilities maintain and strengthen infection prevention and control measures, due to the high community transmission and co-circulation of respiratory viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV and others.

Immunity from monovalent COVID-19 mRNA vaccination wanes over time. A bivalent COVID-19 mRNA booster dose is recommended for all eligible persons; however, little is known about its effectiveness against COVID-19 hospitalization.
